If so, have you noticed how the best of them seem to keep their cool amidst all the chaos, never seeming to mess up a drink order or give somebody the wrong change? For some, it may just be a gift, a natural ability to think on their feet. But for most, it takes the right kind of training to develop the skills and confidence to exude grace under pressure and to master the art of bartending. By attending the right bartending school, you can become more than just a bartender; you can learn to be a professional mixologist. You will not only learn how to mix any kind of drink, you will learn something just as important: how to treat customers like they deserve to be treated. Happy customers mean more than just repeat business for the establishment you are working for, but also more money in your pocket in the way of bigger tips. And satisfied customers do one more important thing: they refer other customers to your place of employment, which can also help your income grow. A top-flight school will help you get your bartender career off on the right foot. You will learn how to work under pressure, and how to keep the orders, not to mention the drinks, flowing all the way until closing time. You will also learn how to be a responsible bartender by learning the telltale signs that indicate when somebody has had a little too much to drink. And since there are always customers that prefer a non-alcoholic drink, you will discover the fine art of how to serve these folks, too. The best bartending schools will also provide you with practical, real-world experience, by allowing you to train behind an actual bar in order to get a true feel for the bartending job. You will be issued a bartending guide full of tips and resources to learn how to do the job right and to help you obtain the required bartending license. By the time you graduate, you will be a highly attractive candidate to any potential employer, and you will have the poise and confidence to succeed once you get that first bartending job.

Looking for beer tap handles or more information about beer tap handles online? Welcome to TapHandlesBeer.com!

All bar owners and beer hobbyist with a home bar knows that a beer tap handle is a must. Pair this with your kegerator or home draft system to create the perfect home bar experience. there are virtually tap handles for almost any beer drinker, Domestic and Imports with many sizes to accommodate any home bar.

A beer tap is a valve, specifically a tap, for controlling the flow or release of beer. While in other contexts, depending on location, a “tap” may be a “faucet”, “valve” or “spigot”, the use of “tap” for beer is almost universal. Beer served from a tap is largely known as draught beer, though beer served from a cask is more commonly called cask ale, while beer from a keg may specifically be called keg beer.

Having a custom tap beer handle adds style to your bar with a branded or even custom made handle. There are many many reasons why bar owners use different handles. Besides letting the drinker know what you have on draft, it also highlights your bar theme, which in turns makes it a more enjoyable environment. Many tap handles come as collectibles, originals, sporty, hobbyist, animal, and even custom tap handles.

In modern times and mostly parties, bulk beer is supplied in kegs that are served with the aid of external pressure. In a normal bar dispense system, this pressure comes from a cylinder of co2 or carbon dioxide (or even occasionally nitrogen) which forces the beer out of the keg and up a narrow tube to the bar. At the end of this tube is a valve built into a fixture (usually somewhat decorative) on the bar. This is the beer tap, and opening it with a small lever causes beer, pushed by the gas from the cylinder, to slowly flow into the glass.

WHY DRAFT IS BETTER

Draft beer is always fresher by keg. Canned/bottled beer is pasteurized unlike kegs which means they bring it to a hot temperature before bottling it to kill any bacteria during its travel. Keg beer is kept cold until it reaches your glass to keep all the germs and bacteria from growing.

Whether you’re a fan of ales, stouts, porters, lagers, or specialty beers, you’re one of millions of people who enjoy beer in its various styles. Beer has been around since people thought the earth was flat, and continues its popularity today. And while brewing beer has remained basically the same, the way beer arrives and is dispensed has radically changed throughout the last 100 years.

Along with just about any other technology, brewing technology has improved since brewing first started centuries ago. The general process remains the same. Beer is a mix of ingredients like hops, malt, grains, yeast, water, and often other specialty ingredients, mixed and fermented together over time. The biggest changes in the beer industry have been how brewers package their product and how it reaches the end consumer.

Beer is a great and well loved beverage, no matter how it’s consumed. However, next time out, enjoy your beer as the brewer intended – direct from the keg. You’ll appreciate the smoother taste!

Many people expand and finish their basement to create more living space. It’s a great idea to take an unfinished basement and create a family room. If the basement has a tendency to get damp, a dehumidifier may need to be installed. There are many variations on a basement family room. It can be a television and media room for the family or a kid’s playroom. Most prefer a traditional family room with sofas and seating areas, maybe a large screen television and, in some cases, a wet bar.

Having a place to relax with friends is the main attraction for a basement bar. It’s the type of room that a guy can decorate to his own liking, assuming that the wife is in charge of decorating the rest of the house. Having a bar built by a professional is not cheap. The materials and labor can be expensive, especially for a wet bar which also includes plumbing work in addition to the electrical work. Then, depending on the level of luxury you want, the materials and fixtures can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars.

Once the bar is built and finished, you need to start buying the necessary accessories. Things like barstools, lighting, bottles of your favorite liquor and glassware. If you want to get really fancy you can install one of those Avanti wine coolers under the counter. This appliance will keep your wine collection at the perfect temperature. Seating, like anything else, comes in all shapes and sizes and price ranges. You can opt for standard wooden barstools which are adequate, but by no means fancy or particularly comfortable to sit and relax on. Or you can go for a more expensive, luxury item with leather seating area and a highback, swivel seat. No matter which you choose you’ll need to multiply the price by six stools. Same thing for the glassware, go for the fancy crystal tumblers and decanters and the price will be significantly higher than it would be for glassware sets from Target.

If you decide on a more toned down approach stick with basic seating and glassware. Avoid cheap, tacky stuff which will detract from your new space. Instead of a large wine refrigerator, buy a countertop wine cooler that holds 12 bottles. Besides it will nicely display your wine collection. Also, don’t add a lot of knick knacks on shelves behind the bar. This tends to look cluttered and is a mood killer. Use the shelves to prominently display your fine liquors and maybe a few classy family heirlooms, especially if they lend themselves to a particular theme that you are trying to go for. Remember this is a place for you to relax and entertain friends and family.

Flair bartending, just as the name suggests, is something that is special to observe. When the good-looking man or gorgeous woman behind the bar mixes you a drink with impressive agility and ostentation, you will be truly delighted, and will possibly end up enjoying your drink and evening even more. The performance is a special attraction and these expert barmen (or woman) are engaged precisely for their unique professional bartending service.

An expert barkeep who is able to entertain guests in a creative and entertaining manner while simultaneously mixing their drinks is said to be bartending with flair. Classed as a special art form or service, flair bartending involves the ability to juggle bar tools such as cocktail shakers and liquor bottles in a manner that is highly entertaining to those that are looking on. In addition, the speed of service and quality of drink is nothing short of awesome.

The term flair bartending became common amongst barmen in the 1990′s, with the making of movies such as Coyote Ugly and Cocktail, and can best be described as any trick used by a barkeeper to entertain guests, while making their favorite drinks. The flipping or juggling of cocktail shakers, bottles and such like. are but a number of the various techniques employed by professional flair bartenders. A number of practitioners are even capable of making use of flammable spirits, besides being trained to perform close up magic tricks, commonly referred to as bar magic. Ultimately, the main objective of this service is to entertain, in a unique fashion, while mixing drinks, and thereby, adding value to a customers overall drinking and/or dining experience.

It all started with the capers of The Professor, which was the nickname of Jerry Thomas who can lay claim to being the first ever flair bartender. Over a century ago, Jerry conducted an experiment where he made a new cocktail by combining hot streams of water and Scotch whisky, and the cocktail, which became known as the Blue Blazer, turned into an immediate hit all over the world. Following this success, flair bartending became increasingly in demand as a special event meant to liven up occasions where drinks were served. Since bartending with flair contributed spice and panache to any gathering, this was successfully used as a vehicle for advertising associated products and organizations. Many top-notch institutions and products have been successfully launched with the assistance of events featuring bartenders with flair. Nowadays, you even have establishments that offer courses of instruction and certificates in this type of bartending.

If you are interested in learning more about bartending with flair, why not go to a bar or pub that employs a flair bartender this evening. Discover the pleasure of being served with flair and flamboyance. Allow yourself to be amazed by the dexterity of these accomplished bartenders and you might find that your cocktail has never tasted better.

A Long Island Iced Tea is a mixed drink served in a highball glass and made with, among other ingredients, vodka, gin, tequila, and rum. It’s a popular drink throughout the world. Long Islanders certainly love it, but they are not alone. Since the 1990s the drink has gained worldwide acceptance. But despite its popularity, the origins of the Long Island Iced Tea are steeped in mystery and probably will always be so.

Although we may never know the true story of the drink’s creation, with a little sleuthing some interesting possibilities arise.

One of these possibilities is that the drink was created in the 1920s in the midst of the glory days of prohibition. Bartenders became experts at disguising alcoholic beverages to avoid the law. This common practice very well could have produced the innocent looking “iced tea.”

But perhaps, the Long Island Iced Tea came to be instead, in the place it takes its name from. Urban legend says that during the 1950s the drink was created by house wives mixing a little liquor from the variety of bottles in their liquor cabinets. Since the drink looks like iced tea, that’s what everyone thought they were drinking.

The most widely accepted story of the Long Island Iced Tea’s origin is that it was invented in 1972 by a bartender at the Oak Beach Inn in the Hamptons named Robert Butt. Rosebud always made sure it was fizzing when he served it and always used Jamaican Rum. He specified that white rum never be used as the rum is the ingredients that give the drink it’s signature color.

Whatever the origin of the Long Island Iced Tea, one thing is certain, the mixed drink reached its height of popularity in early 90′s and is now a well known drink nationwide. It has earned its place as a specialty drink on menus all over the world.

So why not try it for yourself? Here are just a couple of the many popular Long Island Iced Tea recipes:

Long Island Iced Tea

1 part vodka
1 part 1800® Tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®

Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into a shaker and give one brisk shake. Pour back into the glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.

3-Mile Long Island Iced Tea

1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Light rum
1/2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Vodka
Coca-Cola
Sweet and sour
1-2 dash Bitters
1 wedge Lemon

Mixing instructions:

Fill 14oz glass with ice and alcohol. Fill 2/3 glass with cola and remainder with sweet & sour. Top with dash of bitters and lemon wedge.

One of the first and most asked questions to people looking to get a bartending job is “Do I need A License?” The answer is probably not. Not in most states but there are I believe 2 as of 2009 that require a license, Utah and Wisconsin and the license is very easy to obtain. This wild myth about needing a bartenders license is everywhere and it amazes me how prevelant it is on the web. I believe it started with the bartending schools. I think they made it sound like a certificate is some sort of license and from there it just spread.

The adult beverage industry is probably one of the most insulated career paths when it comes to good times and bad times. when times are good, people are”partying like it’s 1999″, and when times are bad people are drinking their troubles away. Not that we like to benefit from others misfortune, but facts are facts. While nearly every sector of the US economy is downsizing or outsourcing, the beverage industry is going strong. If any company in the beverage industry is losing money it is from bad management, not for lack of demand.

The advantage of attending bartending school versus other trade schools is that our courses are short, effective and relatively inexpensive. You can be working as a bartender within two to four weeks. Most other trade schools take from 9 months to two years to complete and cost thousands of dollars. Bartending school can give you peace of mind in a very short time.

You really do not have to be a professional bartender to be able to mix original drinks, providing you use the appropriate tools for the job. You will certainly find some of the utensils listed below already in your home, and you can always improvise with everyday kitchen gadgets. If, however, you go shopping to stock up on bar equipment, the important feature to remember is that the utensils should be easy to clean, which is why stainless-steel items and glass are particularly suitable.

A cocktail shaker is an absolute must for your home bar. It is primarily used to mix drinks with ingredients that are difficult to combine smoothly, such as egg yolks, liqueurs, fruit juices, and cream. Any good bar-supply store will stock a variety of shakers and you are certain to find one to fit your budget and needs.

One standard version is a three-part shaker, which consists of a beaker, a lid, and a built-in strainer, to hold back pieces of ice and fruit pits or seeds when pouring the cocktail. Its disadvantage is that the strainer is very difficult to clean and the liquid pours out slowly. The two-part Boston shaker consists of a large stainless-steel beaker and a smaller one made of lead crystal, which fits inside and has the advantage that the glass beaker is also suitable for use as a mixing glass.

I find professionals usually favor a two-part stainless-steel or silver shaker because it is easier to close than the Boston shaker. When you use a two-part shaker or a mixing glass, you will need a round, stainless-steel bar strainer. This features an edge like a coiled spring, and it should fit exactly into the top of the shaker or mixing glass, making it indispensable when straining cocktails so ice and pieces of fruit or pits do not fall into the glass. If necessary, you can use a new tea strainer instead.

You will also need a mixing glass, sometimes called a shaker glass, for every drink which is stirred, not shaken, such as clear drinks and those made from easily blended ingredients. When shopping for a mixing glass, look for one with a capacity of about 1 quart (enough for 3 or 4 drinks). A long-handled bar spoon is a versatile tool used by bartenders to stir the ingredients in the mixing glass, as a measuring spoon to add the correct amount of ingredients to many cocktails, and to crush flavoring ingredients.

Most bar-spoon handles are 10 inches long and made of stainless steel or silver. At the top of the handle there is usually a disc called a muddler used to “muddle,” or crush, pieces of I (mil, herbs, or sugar cubes. The spoon on the opposite end holds 1/6 ounces of liquid, or the same amount as a standard kitchen teaspoon. The rounded back of the spoon is also useful for slowly pouring layers of liqueurs into a glass when you do not want the layers to mix. A bar whisk is also useful for whisking and mixing.

A truly indispensable item for your bar is a double-ended bar measure, because exact quantities of ingredients are needed for making a drink. Also called a pony-jigger measure, these are usually made of stainless steel with a 1-ounce cup at one end, called a pony and a 1+1/2- to 2-ounce measure at the other end, called a jigger. When you go shopping, look for a measure with easy-to-read 1/4-ounce and 1/2 mince markings inside the jigger end. Alternatively, you can use a standard shot glass with markings on it. If you do not have either measure, use a standard set of kitchen measuring spoons—3 teaspoons, or 1 tablespoon, equal 1/2 ounce, 4 teaspoons equal 3/4 ounce and 2 tablespoons equal 1 ounce.

For every party you can usually find lots of drink being served. These drinks can be the alcoholic variety and the non alcoholic type. For the non alcoholic type of drink all that you need to do is just serve the drinks as the guests like. For the alcoholic drinks you must know something about these drinks or you should get a professional bartender. The best bartenders today are trained at the ABC Bartending School.

This school teaches various people how to be top class bartenders in real life situations. There are many new classes that are being taught at the ABC Bartending School every week. At all of these classes students are given practical lessons in bartending and mixing drinks. The students learn the art of bartending behind a bar. Here they are faced with all of the implements that a bartender needs.

As they progress through the courses the students of the ABC Bartending School are taught the various aspects of being a bartender. They learn how to mix various types of alcoholic beverages and the correct names that many of these drinks are known as. They are conditioned to serving a multiple number of customers at the same time without getting the orders mixed up or completely wrong.

In addition ABC Bartending School students are shown how to make and serve all of these drinks at a quick pace. This is very important in a bar as well as at a party because if there is a lack of prompt service the customers will leave and there will be trouble for you with your boss. This also teaches the novice bartender the art of being able to handle high pressure situations with a calm attitude and a cheerful demeanor.

Besides learning how to make and serve drinks the students of the ABC Bartending School also learn how to be a responsible bartender. This means knowing the safety guide for serving drinks to the various customers. As this is now a requirement in many states in America the ABC Bartending School students have the edge in this business.

Setting up your own bar is actually rather easy to do. There are however, a few things that fine bartenders need to know to run a bar efficiently. In order for a bar to succeed, you`ll need to have the basic wines, liquors, and spirits – along with the right equipment. Although these things are essential, bartenders also need the proper technique for mixing drinks and cocktails as well.

With bartending, the location of the bar is very important. The bar should be placed in an area that is easy to reach and provides plenty of space behind it. There should be plenty of room for glasses and drinks, along with a chair or two as well. The bartender has to learn the area behind the bar, and know everything about it. Bartenders need to know their area well – and how to perform their mixing duties when business heats up.

Another job bartenders have is knowing their drinks. Bartenders are responsible for serving and mixing drinks, which is a wide variety to say the least. It can be nearly impossible to know every possible drink mixture, why is why most bartenders use mixing lists hidden under the bar to help them know what goes in each drink.

Bartenders don`t have a lot of time to mix drinks, which makes it nearly impossible to read each and every label. To help with this dilemma, you can always arrange your alcohol and drinks a certain way, to ensure that you know where everything is. This way, when business picks up and you find yourself short on time – you`ll know where everything is.

To become a successful bartender, or mixologist, it takes years of practice. There are several styles of bartending as well, including the well known and very impressive flair style. Flair bartending involves very exciting techniques and tricks, which will leave customers truly amazed. Flair is the hardest style of bartending to perfect, taking years and years of practice. Flair bartenders all around the world will tell you that flair brings the most crowds – although it can also cost a lot of money in broken bottles along the way!
